You're right in saying that you will have to experiment with your gun to find out for sure. Most of my .54's do fine for deer with .530 roundball in .015 patch over 80 grains of 3f Swiss. It's a really interesting video. D.When I first got my Walker 4-5 years ago I found the loading lever would drop pretty regularly under recoil. Anther fella on a different board described a minor modification to the loading lever latch that solved the problem. My Walker is made by ASM and I found the latch piece did not have much spring to it like it should.Powder charge. Nitro (hard) card. Shotload. Thin overshot card. Full fiber cushion wad*. *The cushion wad needs to be SATURATED (the wetter and heavier, the better) with oil. I like to use olive oil. The load seems to shine best when used in cylinder bored guns. Pull the wedges and lift the barrel out of the stock. Do remove the nipple, maybe even that flash channel manufacturing plug that some call a clean out screw. Put the breech in a bucket of water. The Tennessee is .50 caliber percussion but the rifle comes with a new L&R Flintlock and would just need a vent hole amd me to convert it.
